Green Tariffs

Green Tariffs

In 2009, a new redaction of the Law of Ukraine «On Electric Power Industry» was adopted. The Law establishes preferential tariffs for power plants producing electric power from renewable sources. Preferential or green tariffs will be effective until 2030. The state guarantees the procurement and payment in full for the electric power produced from renewable sources throughout the entire effective period of the Law.

The Law covers the activity of the power plants producing electric power from renewable sources, which were put into operation within the validity period of the Law. The green tariff does not cover the electric power produced both from renewable and conventional sources.

For electric power plants to be put into operation or significantly upgraded after 2014, 2019, and 2024, the green tariff will be discounted by 10%, 20% and 30% respectively. Electric power plants are deemed to be significantly upgraded if the cost of the upgrade of the equipment exceeds 50% of the initial value.

Green tariffs in Ukraine offer some of the best in Europe conditions for development of the renewable energy projects. The Ukrainian renewable energy sector potential is attractive for both local and international investors.
