On January 18, Anatoly Nikolaychuk, director of strategy and development of Free Energ, took part in the presentation of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035: "Security, energy efficiency, competitiveness", which took place in the conference hall of the Verkhovna Rada.
The presentation and discussion of the draft Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 was held within the framework of a joint meeting of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex and Nuclear Safety, together with the Board of the Ministry of Energy. With the participation of specialized industry organizations, experts and representatives of the energy business.
The meeting was opened by Oleksandr Dombrovskyi, chairman of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety. The parliamentarian emphasized that the strategy is not a dogma, it does not contain all indicators of energy consumption, but the document contains key indicators that Ukraine's energy system should achieve by 2035.
"Ukraine needs an Energy Strategy, because its global goal is to ensure the energy independence of our country," Oleksandr Dombrovskyi.
He noted that when discussing the Energy Strategy, attention should be paid to three important factors: energy efficiency, provision of energy resources of the state and development of renewable energy. According to the MP, "a lot needs to be done" in the field of RES. The development of renewable energy must go hand in hand with the development of a balanced model of the energy system, the introduction of smart electricity distribution systems - smart grid and other modern technologies.
"In the European Union, the philosophy of a smart consumer who owns modern energy technologies is now being introduced. This philosophy can change the concept of energy security and energy development of Ukraine," said Dombrovskyi.
The project of the Energy Strategy until 2035 was presented by Oleksandr Sukhodolay (National Institute of Strategic Studies) and Volodymyr Omelchenko (O. Razumkov Center).
The Ministry of Energy and Coal together with the National Institute of Strategic Studies and the Center named after O. Razumkova developed the Energy Strategy until 2035 on the basis of the projects "New Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2020: Security, Energy Efficiency, Competition" and the project "White Paper of the Energy Policy of Ukraine "Security and Competitiveness".
Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion emphasized that the draft Energy Strategy should be improved taking into account the results of public discussions. At the same time, he noted that the Energy Strategy should not be of a sectoral nature, but should be a state, fundamental document. The strategy should take into account the changes that have taken place in Ukraine recently: the development of energy-saving technologies, energy efficiency, as well as the commitments that Ukraine has taken on as part of the European integration processes, regarding increasing the share of renewable energy.
