A round table on energy security was held within the walls of the Verkhovna Rada

On September 15, Free Energy took part in the round table: "Diplomatic front. Ways of strengthening energy security".

The event was attended by high-ranking officials, people's deputies, representatives of key energy companies, international experts, politicians and diplomats.

The event was held by the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Fuel and Energy Complex and Nuclear Policy with the support of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
During the round table, issues related to strengthening Ukraine's energy security through diplomatic efforts were discussed. In the conditions of armed conflict and the aggressor's use of the energy sector as a tool for waging a hybrid war, there is a need to intensify Ukraine's policy aimed at protecting national energy interests.
The main topics of discussion:
key challenges to Ukraine's energy security in modern realities;
the role and importance of diplomacy in solving existing threats to Ukraine's energy security;
ways to further strengthen the protection of Ukraine's energy interests in the international arena.
Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry took part in the event; deputies of specialized committees of the Verkhovna Rada; representatives of key energy companies; experts in the field of energy from non-governmental organizations, as well as international experts, politicians and others.

In his speech, Serhiy Savchuk, Head of the State Energy Efficiency Agency, noted that national energy security directly depends on reducing the consumption of traditional energy resources, especially gas. The development of renewable energy plays an important role in solving this issue. All the countries of the world care about this.
  S. Savchuk reminded that the turning point in the development of "clean" energy was 2015, when the volume of investments in renewable energy sources for the first time exceeded the sum of funds involved in the development of traditional energy. He called on the present deputies to adopt an important draft law on stimulating the production of energy from alternative sources (from 30.03.2016 No. 4334), which will be considered on September 20 in the Verkhovna Rada.
